British singer and guitarist Chris Rea enjoyed a run of popularity in Europe during the late '80s and early '90s after almost a decade of recording. Rea started out performing with a local group called Magdalene, taking David Coverdale's place; the band won a national talent contest in as the Beautiful Losers, but still failed to get a record contract.
Re-recorded for the ‘Chris Rea’ LP ‘One Fine Day’ – Released as the b-side on ‘Soft Top, Hard Shoulder’ single in ‘One Sweet And Tender Touch’ – The original recording of the song later issued on the single Que Sera. It was re-recorded for the ‘Chris Rea’ LP. Side Two.
The album reached the Top 5 in the UK and suddenly Rea was fashionable, something that this unpretentious artist has been trying to live down ever since. A series of minor hits during included a re-recorded version of an earlier song ‘On The Beach’, and a Christmas EP featuring one of his most endearing tracks, ‘Driving Home For.
